RECHARGE is an intervention program for health care workers (HCWs) to cope with stress mainly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The WHO developed the program (“Problem Management Plus, published 2016) and adapted it for the special circumstances with the COVID-19 pandemic. As a brief psychological intervention for adults affected by adversity emerging from stress exposure, RECHARGE teaches HCWs well-documented strategies to manage acute stress. It includes psychoeducation, arousal reduction techniques, managing worries and problem-solving skills, behavioural activation, and enhancement of meaningful activities, all based on the principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy.
